It's okay to laugh at me...or with me...or really just come along following my weird vision of horses I think will be cool. People often ask me what I buy and really I don't often have anything set in stone when it comes to my non-tb group. My Tb's, I try to follow a fairly strict criteria because I really know what works for me.
So I browse facebook a lot because half the battle of buying anything is to look all the time because you really never know when something might pop up. I kept coming back to this horse for some reason. Look, I have developed some sort of weird pinto love. I never loved pinto's but now I just get drawn to them. Judge me...it's totally ok because I am often like really are we buying for color now Jessica?????
Anyway I really don't have any clue on the breeding on this one. Some sort of draft x. I thought he was a 3yr coming four but he is just turned 3. He is 15.3 h and well he is NOT a gelding as advertised. I think she did an awesome job doing his ads but forget to check the undercarriage. He will need to get gelded soon. Hopefully she makes it right but such is the risk in buying horses at a deal. I liked how she advertised him so I would go back again for another if we work it out. Overall, I thought he looked kind, quiet, sweet and athletic.
I think there is a very big pocket of riders who do not need anything to go above BN. They want it to move well, jump well and be athletic but quiet. They probably don't have that 25k draft x budget so you need to find the horses that you can fit in the middle of that group and I often look for these types that we can start well enough to show off their brains/ability and then move along.
I realize he is sort of so ugly he is cute right now. He has no muscle, ugly belly, big head and really looks like all parts. BUT!!!!!!!!!! He is super cute, nice mover, great brain and kind! I can improve the weight/muscle rather quickly as he is a growing young horse. It will be interesting to see him a month from now. We only took a few pictures so we could later do a before/after. Come along for the journey!
