Velcro was a horse that was quite green when we got him and each adventure we take him on he just matures that much more. I love watching the quality training show in the work. He absolutely ROCKED the cross country schooling. I wish I could tell you the chaos that was happening but let's just say he was mature beyond his years to handle everything so well. He loaded/unloaded/tied to the trailer/good to tack/mount/hack around/etc.
I would say that like at home, he was a little bit distracted in the beginning and was like wait jumps??? Then he was like OH JUMPS! It's funny to watch it just click in and when you really start putting the jumps together they just start looking for the jumps and I think you can see that in the video. This horse has such a great canter and jump. He is green but boy all the pieces are there!
Velcro is another horse of color that we are just having so much fun riding! He is a barn favorite! I haven't decided what he wants to be in life but I guess he could do a bit of everything. I do think he really could do very well in the hunter ring. He has the movement and the jump for it at least in my opinion. He loves to go out and about though so eventing, hunting, dressage, etc are all things he would excel at as well.
Velcro is a 5yr 16.3 crossbred (she was told QH cross) that his owner got as young horse. He was very carefully brought along and well started. I think Velcro is the perfect name for him because he has that kind of personality :) Very much an in your pocket curious type.
We have been doing a lot of work with him just getting him a little bit more understanding of forward and in front of the leg which is really starting to pay off. He was very green broke coming to us and really with the weather I think all horses this winter didn't do all that much. He is super smart and really has just started to figure things out so quickly. He is an exceptionally good mover but really he isn't fit or strong enough just yet so we are slowly asking him to learn the pieces.
He LOVES jumping and I think that is a great mix to keep them fresh. He is all about the jumping and boy can he jump. We have also been hacking him around as much as possible (everything is mud/soup) and rode a bit in the field and down the driveway.
We got a chance to hit the trails with him and he was awesome! He loaded/unloaded and handled a good size group. Justin was riding him and was dragging trees around with him in hand building jumps for everyone to jump :) He was great jumping, going in the water, bridges and more! He is going to love XC and we plan on doing that soon.
We also switched up riders a few times with him and that has went great. I LOVED the video of the other Justin riding him today. He really had him looking very huntery as that is more his style. I think it's fun to see them go with different riders/styles.
