I LOVE that we have been so adventurous with our horses buying this year! I never really have a plan on what I am going to buy, it just speaks to me when I see it.
This super lovely horse was just out of my budget when his owner reached out to me initially but I loved him. I was so very thankful to get a chance to buy him. Rory is a 16.1 7yr friesian/wb cross. I did as much research as I could but sure I will learn more as I go. He was imported a few years ago. His sire produces very nice dressage horses from what I found. This horse was very well produced overseas before being imported. Lots of quality dressage training, trails, bareback riding and just making him a lovely all around horse.
He spent the last months with an UL event rider continuing his training and that shows. Justin already messaged me today to say he wants 100 more of this horse! He really is just that nice and fun to ride. Uphill, balanced, super well started, lovely gaits and well he can jump! I had seen some videos of him popping over some small stuff and he didn't look like he was putting much effort in but he really gave a lovely feel for Justin. I also love that Justin just sort of canters them down to the jumps and lets them figure it out. We have scary fillers and he could have cared less.
Overall, this horse just has so so much quality mileage already that all the hard work is done. Now we just get to go do all the fun stuff with him and we can't wait!
The only thing his owner mentioned was he can be a bit pushy on the ground which we already do see. He is a bit of a big guy and can just fidget around a bit. We will work on that.
He is sound. Had clean xrays on import. Barefoot. Easy keeper. No vices.
