Rock and Roll Dancer aka Rosseau is a 6yr 16.2 h draft cross gelding. This lovely horse was originally purchased as a weanling with a nurse mare. He was beautifully produced/started being backed as a 3yr and brought alone where he competed in dressage/eventing. He even taught some lessons, rode western, did trails and just a mix of everything. They put all the right foundation/miles on him. I believe he was competing at BN as a late 4yr. He was purchased as a 5yr by a greener rider and it simply wasn't a great match. He has been doing some groundwork but hadn't really truly been in riding work.
I essentially just thought well his foundation is good so the bones are there. The rest is just a tune up right? Well let's just say we were a bit in awe because I know he hadn't been truly ridden in quite some time and this horse is just WOW in all the ways.
He is simply stunning. The most gorgeous head. Beautiful eye! Such nice bone. He is barefoot with beautiful feet. I think he is put together so well for a draft cross. He moves so light and just balanced. Everything is put on in the right way. He is very unfit so if this is our starting point, well watch out baby!!!
He was just beautiful in the free area but under tack was just something that I think most people are hoping to find. I am very lucky right now to have a barn full of these uphill, light moving, athletic draft x's. The ones with the ability to jump bigger, be competitive on the flat but be tolerate and have the brain everyone seeks. He was just the type you pick up the reins, apply leg and he sits right there for you. What a super nice mover. Then we jumped him and good lord. I mean we have fillers galore in the ring right now and he was just brave as they come with knees to chin.
He should be ready to be out competing as soon as he gets back in shape but we will be making a lot more videos of him doing all the things. Check out his videos here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLt-dzmhstvn1qiJ1d2vdKf3elBBbxKcsm
