 If you are looking for a reliable SAFE trail mount/slower flight hunt horse then Mavis is your girl. Yes, she is a mare but a damn perfect one if you ask me. She is 11yrs old 16.1h draft x mare. She was purchased by her last owner in December of 2024 but due to her health issues she just hung out being a horse. She is thrilled to be back to work and having a job! She now has shoes on and has been out trail riding, hacking, etc. Her prior job was mostly a driving horse with trail riding so at this time her canter isn't quite established and honestly she was sitting in a field for a while so she is still gaining the necessary condition to hold faster gaits. She will canter but it is a bit tough getting it in the ring. There are some horses that truly will pack anyone around and she is one of those. You could make any mistake on her and she will just be like ok what are you doing up there. Ride her on the buckle, into the contact, flap, kick, hang off sideways she doesn't care. She is a very nice mover but is not the type to go any faster than you want her to go.

She will go anywhere on the trail leading the way or following. Traffic, bridges, water, etc. We plan on doing a ton more with her but I know a lot of people are looking for an awesome trail horse or 2nd/3rd field hunt type and she is just so cool.

You can pull her out once a week or once a month and just get on and go. There is something to be said for that. I know she hadn't been ridden in about a year when we got her and she didn't miss a beat.

Mavis is sound. No injuries. No vices. I did put front shoes on her as our trails are rocky and she wasn't loving the rocks. She is excellent in turnout, stall, baths, clipping, grooming, mounting block, trailering, etc.
