I think this horse is a steal of a deal personally. He is just WOW! He roars so he does make a noise. He could have a tie back if someone wanted. However, this is one of those things that won't affect his performance although probably why they didn't maybe compete him in the HUS AQHA stuff? Hard to say.
We have only jumped him a few times at home. He has been doing lots of groundwork, flatwork, headed off the farm to trail ride and headed out to do a little xc school. I am not sure what he wants to be but honestly doing a bit of everything just makes a well rounded horse and I like to show they can do anything. He absolutely LOVED the XC. It was rather hilarious just how darn happy he was about jumping all the things. He was just absolutely jaw dropping doing his flatwork out there. I can imagine my hunter friends are like please get him off that xc course and into the hunter ring. That trot would win the hack! I just think roaring can detract in the hunter ring so sort of a bummer. Regardless, he was just perfect and I think he had the most fun ever out there.
I Am Blazing- 6yr 16.1 1/2 h registered Appendix Gelding sired by BR IAM out of a Hot N Blazing mare https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/i+am+blazing . He is also registered with PTHA and NSBA. He was reserve CBC reserve lunge line champion as a yearling but then had a late start.
I haven't posted about him in a bit because he was supposed to get vetted tomorrow but last minute they decided they needed to sell a horse first.
I bought this cutie as a resale but discovered he has a mild roar (scoped recently) which doesn't limit him but obviously makes him less than a perfect resale candidate. You could do a tie back if you wanted to but again the reality is this isn't limiting for performance purposes. I always am forthcoming about anything less than perfect and if you wanted to eliminate the noise the surgery isn't that expensive to do.
Blaze came to us pretty green with what his trainer said was about fifty rides or so. He was maybe a horse that I would say was a bit stuck everywhere in the body perhaps the result of western training or who knows what. Again, just being honest about what we saw/felt on arrival. My team has put in so so much time with this horse and honestly he is transforming in such a beautiful way. We did a lot of ground work, ground driving and overall lunging to establish forward. He has went from really having not a lot of understanding of the leg to now truly staying in front of the leg. He is just looser in his body and more up into the bridle in a good way. He had really good basics in my opinion but just needed to understand he was allowed to go forward. Justin spends a lot of time moving him around the leg, getting him following the hand and overall more supple. I think the work shows!
Justin also took him to Fairhill for a long trail ride and he did great with bridges, water, traffic, jumps and more!
He has just been introduced to jumping in the ring and what a natural. He is also the kind of horse that has that great canter so the lead changes come very natural. I always think all this cross training with jumping/trails/etc gets them a bit happier about life in general which is working well for Blaze!
Blaze is a very quiet horse. He is more whoa than go. He isn't spooky or silly. He does appreciate a little lunge before his ride but that is mainly us just ensuring we have him going forward the way we like so that he just has true understanding.
I think he is a stunningly beautiful horse. He floats across the ground and that canter....just amazing!!!!! You could ride him all day long.
He is a bit of what I call a sour patch kind of horse. He can be so sweet at times but he can be a little bit of a grump when blanketing/tacking/etc. He takes after his thin skinned TB side. Don't you dare use anything but a soft brush on him :)
He is extremely well mannered. Clips, ties, baths, shipping and all the things. This horse was handled from birth and has only known the best of the best. He is great in turnout or in a stall. No injuries, no vices, excellent feet.
