When I look at all the ISO ads of people hoping to find the mythical unicorns I often smile knowing I have some of them in my barn. I honestly don't know how many 2.5 years you can pull out after not having ridden in weeks and just pop on for a ride in the field but this is one of them. I have told lots of friends if you are looking for a prospect with the absolute best brain this horse is all of that. When I got his papers, I realized he doesn't turn 3 until August! Obviously we do sales here but I don't plan on doing showings on this horse due to his age and really the fact that we do not have him in any sort of program. It's hey let's go for a hack and mess around but we won't be doing anything consistent. He has shown exactly how talented he is and what kind of brain he has for anyone wanting an incredibly nice horse to develop. Eventing, hunting, dressage, trails, etc he is going to be the best and trust me I do A LOT of young horses.
Riverspring Godot https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/riverspring+godot is a lovely purebred cleveland bay 16.2 h 3yr gelding that should finish around 17h. Sired by frostyoak hampton out of olddominion sarai. There are horses that honestly I could write a book about to tell you why they are so great and he is just one of them. People talk about not wanting young horses but I personally just love them so much. The brain on this horse cannot be beat and I truly mean that. He is the kindest animal who just loves everyone/anyone and cuddling is his favorite thing. The walk and canter on this horse are so so special for a super gangly not quite 3yr. I mean if you know you know...just already this nice at this age is something special in my opinion. I mean not to say the trot isn't nice because it's so nice but really not even half of what it will be when he gets stronger in his body. He can curl up a little bit so just goes in a nice rubber bit and we focus on just going forward and straight at the moment.
I don't know how much had been done with him prior to coming to us but he is just brilliant in every single way. He does not ever put a foot wrong. Sure, his steering is a bit undeveloped but well he isn't even a 3yr just yet. He is quite a late foals so we really just pull him out and do some super random light fun stuff with him. He is so perfect there isn't much to do at this stage. We will probably go do a few little trail rides and then turn him back out here real soon because well again he is perfect and I don't feel a need to do anything else or show him doing anything else. You can look a really long time and not find something like him that has his ability/brain/etc.
He does all the proper groundwork. Lovely flatwork. He hacks aorund solo like it's no big deal. He rides around in the cross country field and happily pops over the logs about as cute as they come. He can handle a ring full of horses going everywhere like it's no big deal. He will stand all day in the middle of the ring on the buckle watching the action.
There are just moments when I watch him and think man another I should keep but our focus is buying really nice young ones and starting them so everyone can see what we see in them. If he sells it would be great but it sure won't hurt our feelings if he doesn't.
Even at this age, you can pull him out once a month and go hack around on the buckle which is hard to find. I have no doubts he will be an incredible foxhunter/eventer/etc.
He does crib......but well I think he is nice enough that the right person won't care too much :)
He will stand all day for grooming, tacking, farrier, vet, etc. Great for lunging, mounting and all the things. Happy in stall, turnout, sound. no vices, no quirks and barefoot with great feet.
