Gilbert is a 5yr 16.1 h thick built gypsy quarter horse cross gelding with a long flowing mane and the most gorgeous color. If you are looking for the size, color, beauty and brain, this one checks the boxes! Gilbert can do it all from English, western, trails, jumping, and so much more. It can be really hard to find that SAFE all around horse that you can hit the show ring with but also go fox hunting, trail riding, let your kids or husband ride, lend to friends, etc. He is the best friend type that loves everyone he meets and everyone loves him!

In the barn, he will stand all day for intense grooming sessions, mane braiding, clipping, baths, etc. He happily spends hours in the cross ties so if you really love one that soaks up the attention he will be happy to hang out with you especially if you sneak him the occasional treat 😊 He is excellent for tacking, mounting, trailering, etc. Happily loads/unloads/stands tied to the trailer. Great in turnout. Great in his stall. Zero buddy issues. He is quiet with the chaos of machinery, dogs running around his feet and crazy cats jumping around. He is an easy keeper. Barefoot. Good for the vet/farrier/dentist. He is very well schooled with groundwork/lunging/ground driving/etc.

Gilbert loves trail riding and is happy to go solo or in groups. He quietly handles traffic. Loves water. Crosses bridges. Will go in the back or will lead the way. He was jumping across ditches, handling rough terrain and so much more! He is happy to walk along on a loose rein but has enough get up and go to keep up/move along. We will be getting him out hunting if he stays here long enough but this one absolutely will handle the chaos of a hunt. His brain is just incredible and there is nothing that has even bothered him.

Gilbert is well schooled in the ring. He quietly w/t/c. He happily will go on a loose rein but he is also soft over his back and will collect up. He knows his leads, will back up and does some basic leg yielding. He is extremely quiet and more of a push ride but also will move out for you when asked. He is just not the type that get worried or anticipate. He does not care about other horses coming at him or behind him in the ring. He absolutely is not the type that feeds off the bad behavior of others. I have seen him never even flick an ear with another horse in the ring being absolutely naughty when most horses would have gotten amped up.

Gilbert is a super cute jumper that shows quite a bit of scope and a lovely form over a jump. He is new to jumping but is brave, willing and quite talented. He is quiet to and away from the jumps and is very forgiving when the distances or jump isn’t quite perfect. He has also jumped out on the trail. He does not get hot and is just very adjustable.

I find this horse to be the perfect mix of being athletic but still being so steady that he gives any rider confidence. He is a very very smooth mover which is gentle on your back. He is a cute mover but not such a huge mover that he feels intimidating. Being more of a push ride he is great for someone who maybe doesn’t want to feel that big engine under them. He has enough substance that he will fit a larger rider with ease.

It can be extremely hard to find something like him so while I hate the term unicorn, I do think he is one I would put in that category. You are just guaranteed to have a great ride on him. I can just see him doing so many things and doing them well. He absolutely will do the slow western jog/lope as well so have no fear he converts back and forth extremely easy from English to western.

Located in Delaware. All his videos are here- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLt-dzmhstvn0i9575sbJMCze-As3kxRFG

www.benchmarksporthorses.com has all the specific details. He is one eight three zero carrots so higher end of the low fives I suppose but likely to increase very shortly as we get him out xc schooling and foxhunting.
