I honestly thought people would jump to buy this one based off that trail video here https://youtu.be/e1DGB_9fFoY. I honestly don't know a lot of horses this quiet regardless of age. I just know what these really nice draft x's are costing these days and most have some major holes. This one is from a breeder so he is just as good as it gets in terms of a clean slate. Everything has been put on him right. Currently Eli is 16.1 h at 3 and I suspect he will finish at 16.3. I had his brother and that was his height as a 5yr. If you want to develop something very nice he is one worth the time to bring along. Heck, let him grow a bit and send him to a trainer in the spring to have yourself something really fancy!
Eli is one of those draft x's that truly is SAFE. Yes, he is green and no I really don't want a million people coming out here to ride my 3yr because I don't know what I can show you that I haven't shown in all my videos. I won't compromise my horses training just to get him sold. He is exactly as advertised and honestly probably better. I get a LOT of green horses in here so when I tell you this one can sit for a month and you can pull him out and go on a trail I really do mean it. We have had him a bit and he was just turned out for a while. We brought him back here and just got right on him to get him going again and he didn't miss a beat. He has ZERO quirks. He is the horse version of a labrador. Kindest, sweetest and safe with the most try you could ask for in a baby. He is brave, sensible and does all the things but he is still a green broke draft x that when you ride him in the ring will ride like a green broke draft. I prefer to just hack them out a lot right now and he has started doing that and traveling off the farm to trail ride going through water, ditches, traffic, leading, following, etc.
We have really taught him forward now and he is starting to look like a real horse! Quite a nice fancy athletic type and you can start to see what will be there. A 3yr is not going to look like a fancy show horse yet. You are going to have those drunken sailor can't steer moments so go forward and straight for now. He lunges quite nicely and is starting to find that stretch now and connect his parts. We do all these things very lightly.
Here he is with some ring work here
https://youtu.be/SZI7tbUhYUo I think this is just quite lovely for a 3yr with not a ton of ring rides. You can see moments where the steering is lacking but I very much expect that right now!
He self loads, clips, ties, great for mounting, turnout, stall, baths, grooming and everything in between. He is gentle in every single way. There is just never a moment where he is silly/hot/spooky/spicy or any of those things. He simply operates on zen no matter what the day/weather/time off/etc. Again, some are just born this way and he is one of them.
I know he is young but there are horses that I can promise you will be hubby safe, adult ammy friendly, kid friendly, hunt like the best damn hunt horse and so much more. He is an independent thinker that doesn't care about friends or anything else. I could take him hunting tomorrow but I prefer not to rush him. I would like to start him with hound walking not in the middle of hunt season if you know what I mean?
If you want to develop a green horse I cannot say enough good things about this one. I do think he is quite a nice mover and will go on to event, hunt and so much more. No, I am not going to jump him right now but this one is a nice light type that should really be quite special as he comes along.
