I think my overall goal of the year is to buy horses that I think people will find safe and fun to ride. I really have no particular size, color, age, sex, etc in mind. I just know it when I see it. I am always hunting down cool draft crosses that I think are athletic and fun types that can do a bit of everything and anything.
I was lucky that I reached out to the owner of this fantastic mare and when I did I found out she was actually a horse that I bid on or maybe wanted to bid on in one of the higher end auctions. Her prior connections do a fantastic job starting their horses in the ring, trails, dressage, jumping, obstacles and so much more. Her most current owner bought her to do mounted police work with and has done some mounted police courses, obstacle training and more. I could tell this mare was just very very smart and brave!
She just came in last night but we couldn't resist taking her for a spin. The whole ride Justin was just like okay now this is a really nice mare...wow really really nice. I mean soft, elastic, good mover, good canter, brave, quiet, willing and obviously very very well started in all the ways. We have no idea if she had ever jumped but he just started popping her around and finished jumping our biggest jumps one which is this huge honking rolltop and she was just like cool whatever. I didn't get her "best" jump on the video but she was tired and sometimes you have to be happy with whatever you got. She was just brave, agile and all the things.
She quietly stood there while the other horse went around. She is just one that I think will do anything and everything someone wanted to do.
She obviously has only know the best of the best in her life. She is so sweet. Trailered great. Came off quietly in the dark last night. Stood well today for clipping, mane pulling, etc. Just a smart willing girl! Sound, barefoot, no injuries and no vices. We are going to have a ton of fun with this one!!!
