Charlie is a 16.1h 11yr buckskin draft cross gelding. He is another horse that I think is way different than he appears in a good way. I mean right now he looks like this unathletic fatty standing there but then you see him go and think wow this horse is FANCY!!! He also arrived to us right before the weather so we are still evaluating him but we had a few rides on him before the weather and were excited about him.
He is really lovely in the barn. Extremely easy with all the things. Very sweet quiet type. He obviously has a lot of training but I don't know his full history which is why I just like to take the time to get to know them a bit. He seems much more comfortable english than western which makes sense to me because he is a huge mover. I was told he had mostly done trails and some flat/low jumping.
He was a bit behind the leg when we got him and could be a little bratty about pushing forward into the contact but we have done some groundwork with him and some firm rides to say look get forward which all seems to be clicking in. He is quite the athletic type of cross which I think will suit people who want something to be competitive but I think this one is too big/powerful of a mover to be a beginner type. He really could be something quite fancy for dressage/eventing/etc. He makes a beautiful shape in his body. Such a great canter. Seemed to really like jumping and was brave. I don't think he knew much but he was very game.
