Charlie- 11yr 16.1 h stunning buckskin draft cross gelding.
I always think there has to be a rider for every horse but sometimes it does feel like an uphill battle when you have a horse that has any sort of quirk or weirdness. Charlie is one of those horses that everyone wants until I tell them he always walks off weird after you mount. He stands 100% perfect to mount and will stand quietly for as long as you want but he just walks off in a way feels odd. We have had him for two months and he is the same regardless of lunging, saddle (english/western/etc), turnout, riding schedule, etc. He doesn't do anything more than what you see here in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrIN-AwqWzY and oddly enough he only does it the first time you mount. If you mount him multiple times he won't do it after the first time. On trail rides and hunting we get off and on him multiple times. I don't know whether he has some anxiety from a past experience or what? This video is Ava's first time riding him so she was demonstrating what it looks like.
So if you still have interest after that he is just the coolest. He has extensive miles on the trails and he is just a total UNIT! He will go anywhere you want to go. We took him foxhunting and he was absolutely fantastic. The horse cares about nothing. He is steady as they come. Quiet. Safe. Sensible. He does rock the fat belly but he is quite athletic! He is a fancy mover. He can get up and go with the best of them or walk quietly all day long whatever you want to do.
He is well schooled in the ring. Has popped around the jumps. He loves going on adventures, hacking out and he LOVED hunting. He doesn't care about going out alone or in groups. He loads great. Ties to the trailer.
He is sound, easy keeper (could stand to lose some weight!) and no vices. He has an old scar on the left front foot which does not affect him but I have just kept shoes on him.
We love this horse but the reality is we are a sales program and anything that is less than normal can be something we simply cannot move. I am extremely forthcoming about my horses. I have told everyone look he is awesome but he does xyz and he hasn't had any interest when I am honest about him.
I know there have to be people that can live with this weird quirk so if that is you reach out. He is obviously in the low five carrots but I do need to move him along as we have a line of horses waiting to come in.
