Looking for an event horse to go up the levels? There are horses that truly just want to do that job and this is one of them! Most recent xc video here https://youtu.be/P5RgQDP2Muw
Baytown Guvnah- 4yr 16.3 h gelding sired by Complexity out of an Include mare https://www.pedigreequery.com/baytown+guvnah I am not that familiar with this direct sire as I think this is our first by him. He had 10 lackluster starts last running 3/27/26. He is sound, no injuries and no vices. Comes from an excellent barn where he was very loved.
This is one absolutely stunning not to mention super sweet horse. He ships like a dream. Great for grooming, tacking, clipping, mane pulling, baths, tacking, lunging, mounting, etc. Excellent in his stall, turnout, great to handle and has been the same traveling off the farm as he is at home. Throw the tack on and load him on the trailer where you get right on in the parking lot and hit the trails! He will fall asleep as you are tacking him while he is tied to the trailer. There is nothing anxious about this one!
If you are looking for that horse with the brain and confidence to move up the levels, I really think he is exactly that. I could go on and on about how he is a lovely mover, great canter, super willing, smart, trainable and all the things but I think what comes across the most to me is that there is nothing he won't do. He is very much the no questions asked going to jump anything you point him at and go down the scariest of trails for you kind of horse. He has been incredibly brave and willing to all the scariest fillers, xc jumps and out trail riding he has handled water, bridges, ditches, traffic and more all without turning a hair. He is just naturally confident which makes training a horse like him extremely easy and FUN! He is always up for anything you want to do. He loves adventures and I think he is one that could play in all rings and do it well. He has ZERO buddy issues. Will confidently go off alone. Will also stand by himself while his buddy goes off cantering down the trails. In the videos of Gus those are taken from Baytown where he just is quietly standing on a loose rein. Heck, Justin has even done some videos for me in the ring videoing from on Baytown. Wild Tb's I tell ya :)
He went xc schooling for the first time this weekend and he was just insanely confident. I am talking just quietly cantering around to the jumps, popping right up and down the banks, into the water, ditches and combo jumps involving the ditches on his very first xc schooling. You can take your chances on one you think "may" like to event but I can with confidence tell you this guy will eat up a XC course! In some ways it was harder because we went with three horses and each horse had to go out alone with no buddy to school. Baytown was just absolutely foot perfect!
I always think that people seem shocked that Tb's this soon off the track are just awesome on the trails (ok, not all are I admit but it's very much a what you see is what you get in our videos) but he truly is exactly as his videos-just walking quietly flatfooted with confidence on the trails, cantering in the open fields, tackling ponds, water, ditches, bridges and more. Just take them out and let them figure it out. There is nothing hot or silly about him. I am sure it probably was his first time in western tack but honestly this horse does not care.
He is a very big mover with a LOT of power so he isn't for a beginner simply for that reason but not because his brain isn't perfect. He isn't spooky, silly or anything that wouldn't suit someone with basic skills riding a big young horse. He is a very good jumper with a lot of people and scope. I can tell you he is going to jump a big fence. He is bold and cocky without being the type to take over. He has natural lead changes.
There are horses that I truly feel confident will very easily go up the level simply because they WANT to do the job and are just super trainable. He is one of those types. He is relaxed about the flatwork. Super work ethic. Never gets nervous. Just super brave and has the sense of adventure that makes you really think you could do anything on him.
Did I mention he is gorgeous? He is a very very big horse who I think is still growing and will easily top 17h. He will fill out a lot as he goes but right now a lot of that is still going to him growing up and not out lol!
