Aspen is our lovely 16h 3yr Irish Draught/TB gelding sired by Farraway Quicksilver out of a Birdstone mare https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/pnf+silverbird Aspen had all the right foundation put on by his breeder. You cannot find a kinder animal. He absolutely loves everyone and everything. I just find these types to be about as easy as they get and it is hard to not to too much because they find it all so easy. He was not started on arrival but honestly getting him going has been about as uneventful as one could hope. He has just been foot perfect as we expected. He picked up all his groundwork like a genius. He has progressed to riding in the ring/field and is quietly w/t/c in a very nice shape and balance. He is a lovely mover! The brain on this horse simply cannot be beat. He truly is just a gem.
He had a little pop around some tiny jumps because frankly he is just a bit bored and I find it encourages fun and forward. As we expected, he just jumped everything so darn cute right out of rhythm as perfectly as you could want a horse to do. This one is just so darn easy and special. I know he is going to be a kick butt event horse when he matures.
I do think he is physically immature so we are just putting a little start on him and then I think he should get some more turnout to grow. He looks like he is a growth spurt again and I am talk these are late to grow which makes sense. He is excellent for all ground manners. Super in stall, turnout, grooming, tacking, lunging and really anything we have done with him.
There are horses you work with that just make you feel "smart" because it is so easy and he is one of them. If they were all as easy as him than everyone would be doing young horses :)
He is sound, no injuries, no vices and barefoot at the moment.
