Apache is a 4yr 17h friesian/percheron draft cross gelding that we purchased from his breeder recently. His full sister is Freckles also on my website and absolutely lovely horse with the best best brain. His breeder told us a good majority of his horses have went to mounted units which takes a very good brained type of horse. After working with this group of horses it has become very clear to me that any of these could also be on a mounted unit.
Apache was not started prior to arriving here. He pretty much had just been living out in a field and was handled/loved people but no real life experience. He has been one of the easiest ones along with his sister about adapting to barn life. Honestly, everything about this horse is easy. I guess maybe because they know nothing but also nothing bad they are just easy as they come. On his very first session we already sat on him and had a walk around. He just doesn't care about anything. There has been so little drama with these horses, I think anyone could have been backing them. I mean I like to say my riders are good (they are) but these horses are just plain this easy. They have never put a foot wrong.
Apache was on ride three today and ventured out to the big ring. Just such a very very nice horse in my opinion. He is a true 17h but can easily canter in balance in the round pen. He was so brave heading out to the big ring! Just think this one is very special.
